Terms of Service

Last updated 14 August 2026

These terms apply when you use Prooflane — the Inspector, the CLI, the hosted Control Plane, and this website. By creating an account or using the software you accept them. If you are using Prooflane for an organisation, you are confirming you may accept these terms on its behalf.

Prooflane is in beta

Prooflane is pre-release software offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Features, scores, limits, and pricing may change, and functionality may be added or withdrawn without notice. We do not promise any particular level of availability, and there is no service level agreement during beta.

Your account

  • Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep your sign-in credentials to yourself. Anything done through your account is your responsibility.
  • You need a verified email address to use the hosted parts of the service.
  • Accounts are for one person. Plan limits — such as the number of servers or tools covered — apply to your account and are not to be shared or worked around.
  • You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

Acceptable use

Prooflane is a testing tool, and testing tools can be misused. The rules are set out in our Responsible Use Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: only test systems you own or have explicit permission to test, and do not use Prooflane to attack anyone.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks those rules, or that puts the service or other users at risk.

Plans, trials, and payment

  • New accounts receive one 30-day full-access trial. It is once per account and requires no payment card.
  • When the trial ends, existing projects, runs, evidence, Gates, benchmarks, reports, and settings remain available to read. New paid operations lock until you choose a paid plan from the authenticated product.
  • Where fees apply, they are payable in advance and are not refundable except where the law requires it. You are responsible for any taxes.

What is yours stays yours

You keep all rights to your systems, your test definitions, and your results. We claim no ownership of them and do not use them to train models.

Prooflane runs locally by design: your server credentials, provider API keys, prompts, and model responses stay on your machine. Optional hosted features can store test evidence with us, and those stay switched off until you separately accept the agreements shown to you at the time. How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Notice.

We own Prooflane itself — the software, the site, and the marks. These terms give you permission to use it, not to copy, resell, or reverse engineer it.

Third-party services and costs

Prooflane connects to systems and providers you choose, including language-model providers and your own MCP servers. You are responsible for the keys, data, and requests you send to them, for the fees they charge, and for complying with their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or for what they do with what you send them.

What Prooflane does not claim

Prooflane's checks are automated and heuristic. They are not exhaustive, and they do not guarantee that a system is secure, compliant, or free of vulnerabilities. Scores, findings, and release decisions are informational. They are not a professional audit, a penetration test, a certification, or legal, security, or compliance advice, and they are not a substitute for your own judgement.

Warranties and liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Prooflane is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for lost data, revenue, profits, or systems, arising from your use of Prooflane or from reliance on its results. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Ending things

You can stop using Prooflane and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue a paid service we will give reasonable notice. Your local Inspector data is on your own machine and remains yours.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product develops. The current version is always on this page with its date. If a change materially affects you and you keep using Prooflane afterwards, that counts as accepting it.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Prooflane is established, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts there. Before starting a formal dispute, please email us — most things are quicker to resolve directly.
